Truth & Soul is an Eastern Pennsylvania based band that has been performing in the Tri-State area for over twelve years. From the Greater Pocono Mountains Region to the renowned beach bars of the Jersey Shore, this talented group continues to entertain audiences everywhere with their unique selection of songs from the classic music of the 70’s through today’s current hits.

Comprised of four extremely diverse musicians, Truth & Soul features lead vocalist: Victoria Heckman. Vicki may be the newest member of the band but she already has plenty of stage experience in front of large crowds. She comes to us from a six-year stint as a featured performer in the Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom variety show!! Rounding out the rest of the band are founding members: Steve Placotaris on guitar and vocals, Bob Giovannetti on keyboards and vocals, and Rich Giancamilli on saxophone and vocals.

Truth & Soul has performed at a wide variety of venues ranging from local nightclubs and wedding engagements to playing one thousand seat amphitheaters as well as opening for renowned national touring acts such as Beatlemania Now and The Average White Band.

Strong vocal harmonies, accomplished musicians, and a state-of-the-art computer controlled live show all add up to place Truth & Soul in a class by themselves!!

F.A.Q.

Q. Why hire “Truth & Soul”??

A. Excellence, reliability and professionalism!! The members of “Truth & Soul” are highly dedicated and talented musicians who have spent many years perfecting their craft. Add in the fact that they have been performing together for close to three decades and you have one extremely tight knit group!! Although we consist of just four musicians, we effortlessly deliver a sound that rivals much larger bands without the inconsistency (and added expense) that comes from hiring a bigger ensemble.

To accomplish this we incorporate sequenced backing tracks of your favorite songs, meticulously recreated by keyboardist Bob Giovannetti who has played with numerous bands and written/produced music for television, film as well as global advertising campaigns. As comprehensive as the backing tracks are, the true heart of our performances lies in the talents of the individual musicians and vocalists!! The prerecorded tracks are used to augment our live show, not to cover or hide any shortcomings. Make no mistake; we are a live band . . . not a karaoke act!!

Yet another benefit to this state-of-the-art playback system is that it allows us to keep the dance floor packed by providing hours of seamless, non-stop entertainment.

Q. Does the band play weddings??

A. Yes, we have performed at countless weddings and know exactly how to make that special day one your guests will be talking about for a long time to come!! We provide musical entertainment for all the essential elements of a wedding reception . . . and most importantly, we do it without taking focus away from the bride and groom.

If you require a certain piece of music that is not in our repertoire for the couple's first dance or the bride's special dance with her father, given sufficient time we will gladly learn any song of your choice to further enhance these unforgettable moments.

Q. How did the band get its start??

A. The concept for “Truth & Soul” was conceived by keyboardist, Bob Giovannetti. Growing tired of the limitations of conventional bands, his goal was to form a project that would be able to recreate music in a live setting with an uncompromising attention to detail. Utilizing the latest technology of the time, he began creating elaborate backing tracks of songs that could not easily be covered by a traditional lineup of musicians.

Having previously played together in the band Agent 99, Bob once again called on sax player Rich Giancamilli and guitarist Steve Placotaris to complete the lineup that would eventually go on to become “Truth & Soul”. Operating under the moniker Odd Man Out, the trio played its first show at Porter’s Pub in Easton, PA in the fall of 1996. We continued to perform together for three years before adding a female vocalist and coming to a decision on our new name.

Q. When and how did Vicki join the band??

A. In August of 2004, “Truth & Soul” found itself looking for a new female vocalist. We got a tip from a close friend that Victoria Heckman had just become available after performing at Dorney Park for six consecutive years. After one phone call and a relatively short audition, we knew we had just found the perfect addition to our lineup.

With only one rehearsal under her belt, she joined us onstage at one of our most anticipated events of the year, Musikfest!! That night our fan base greeted Vicki with open arms and created such a commotion it prompted the management of the Hotel Bethlehem to invite us back for an unprecedented second appearance to close the show at this prominent weeklong music festival.

Q. Does the band feature any guest musicians??

A. Yes, trumpet player extraordinaire Dave Frinzi has been sitting in with the band periodically since its inception back in 1996!! One of the original members of , Dave has been performing alongside sax player Rich Giancamilli for 30 some odd years. Dubbed the Alpha Horns, they combine to impart a true sense of authenticity to our covers of classic horn driven songs by acts such as the Commodores, Stevie Wonder, Average White Band, Paul Simon, The Blues Brothers, and Chicago.

Dave is available by request for weddings, private parties, and corporate events
.

Q. Are you guys brothers??

A. As hard as it may be to believe, we get asked this quite often. No, we are just three good friends who share a very similar passion for music, food, and well-groomed facial hair, hehe!!.

Talk about a long history together . . . here is a classic photo of Bob and Rich at two years old!! By the time they were twelve these two were already performing together in the band, . Almost 30 years later and they are still just as passionate about music as they were back in grade school.
